21 Savage . Originally, Shayaa Bin Abraham-Joseph, was born on October 22, 1992 in Atlanta, Georgia and has since earned the title of 21 Savage after he was shot 6 times on his 21st birthday. The "21" in his name signifies one of the gangs he reps, along with Murder Gang and Slaughter Gang. While the "Savage" simply came from the need of an Instagram handle. The knife resting in the center of his forehead is in dedication to his late little-brother, Tay Man, who was killed a few years ago.  Everything else is just coincidence.

The soft-spoken rapper from inside of Atlanta made his debut release in 2015 with, The Slaughter Tape, recorded off of equipment that he and his cousin jacked from a house nearby. The project blew up and 21's signature "murder music" sound has thus been indoctrinated into the rap-wheelhouse.

Soon after his first tape was released, 21 dropped a MetroBoomin produced project called, Savage Mode which the majority of his known hits come from. He also did a smaller collab project with SunnyDigital  called, Free Guwop. Among his singles and features, Savage has also done songs with other Atlanta icons like, Future, Gucci Mane, 2 Chainz, and more.

21 reps a pretty savage lifestyle full of VVS rings, Drake gifted Ferraris, and a seemingly infinite supply of styrofoam cups. Between songs like, "Slaughter your Daughter" and his radio hits like "No Advance," and "X," Savage has drawn a clear moral line that extends far beyond most people's comfort zone and expresses his opinions tenderly. That is 21 Savage's golden ticket.

Where Drill Music like Cheif Keef is almost violent in it's bass and beats to match it's crimson vocals, 21 whispers his ill-mannered life-choices in a way that almost comforts you. It's not a matter of trust, 21 has made it very clear from repetitious interviews that he is not, "another rapper banging on wax." Much like his fellow XXL 2016 Freshman, 21 Savage has a no-fuck mentality that has allowed him to ascend to a near million dollar status in less than a year, while still being genuine to the artist he depicts himself as. A street thug that really made it out.

As far as material is concerned, 21 Savage seems to be forever preoccupied with rappers who pretend to be hard, VVS anything, your girl, and your underachievements in comparison to any quality of his character or successes. His vocals are quiet and so crisp that it is as if he is in your ear whispering his premeditated homicide and post-party celebration after.

With the growing surge to drop oppressive and more mindlessly violent aspects of rap music, 21 Savage has found himself going 170mph against the current. We don't need 12 different rappers telling us 12 different ways he's going to gape our girlfriend and then serenade our mother. We just need 21's never-ending fixation on being the most real and most genuine Savage on the scene -- all the while exposing insta-hoes (men and women alike) in the process.
