"Young Boat, I'm the king of the teens"

-- Lil Yachty, "King of Teens", Summer Songs 2

Lil Yachty, aka, Lil Boat, aka Lil Miles Parks McCollum, is, no matter which name you choose to use, the undisputed face of the 2016 New School rap scene and the consequent undoubted leader of the youth.

Riding the wave ILoveMakonnen sacrificed his career to make, Lil Yachty transcended the barriers of "just another viral internet video" from inside Atlanta, and found himself being the most vocal of his XXL counterparts and now frontman for this shift in culture. It's not even that he's outspoken, he is a pretty reserved person as seen through his countless interviews with The Breakfast ClubSway in Morning , Power with Ebro, etc. He simply isn't afraid to answer questions honestly, and sometimes those honest answers get a reaction.                He doesn't care. He doesn't listen to Biggie. He doesn't claim the title of rapper. Nor would he consider his music rap. Rather, he makes turn-up or feel good music and just speaks his mind. He has a signature flow that walks a line between unsynchronized and carefree. A tone that is blatantly off pitched, but heavily autotuned and balanced with melodic rhythms that are more soothing and hypnotic than lyrical by any means, that somehow makes each track somewhat of a hit. These bangers, coined Bubblegum Trap, are made by his longtime friend Lil Perry, aka TheGoodPerry, aka BurberryPerry.

----  Though that is not to say his FEATURES aren't fire ----

Hitting the ground running off of his successful singles "1Night" and "Minnesota" in 2015, Lil Yachty caught the attention of Migos at Quality Control Records and signed. He isn't focused on rap beefs like Shia or J. Cole's. He isn't even concerned about upholding values that the old-school crowd harasses him for ignoring. He only cares about representing his fans and promoting positivity.

His sound is emphasized by his vibrant aesthetic and colorful personality, it's almost like a more outrageous Tyler the Creator...just more cherry than bomb. He has two mixtapes that released this past July (2016): Lil Boat and Summer Songs 2 . Both of which features all aliases of Lil Yachty as well as his entire crew, The Sailing Team. They have a handful of bangers including the two aforementioned releases, as well as: "Wanna be us," "Fucked Over," "Up Next 3 (Feat. Lil Herb)," and "All In." The last of which features every single member of The Sailing Team, rounding out at ten including Lil Boat.

Recently releasing a music video for: Shoot Out the Roof.

Lil Yachty has gallantly achieved a very difficult maneuver of pushing himself from behind a laptop screen to in front of a camera lens, representing Puma and Pink Dolphin clothing within months of exposure. And has now recently joined the ranks of Nautica as well.

He focused on his image equal to if not more so than his music (both creating an utterly authentic and genuine artist personality as well as expectation of style and performance) and this got him noticed. His ambitions are in clothing, dentistry, and supporting his friends and family. As far as people who deserve to live their dreams, Lil Yachty seems to be a good-hearted "Randy" (from My Name is Earl) of a person to choose, and thus worthy if not simply through authenticity/naivety.
